About

Helen Bronte Boyd is a visual artist who lives and works in Sydney, Australia. Born in 1970, first generation Australian with French, Irish and British heritage.

Raised in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, Boyd studied Industrial Sewing at Wollongong, TAFE. Boyd still incorporates textiles into many of her mixed media 2D and 3D installation works.

Later furthering her schooling in Visual Arts at Christchurch Hagley College, New Zealand, then doing a Visual Arts Diploma at Boxhill TAFE, Melbourne, Australia.

Boyd moved to Hong Kong in 2002, there co-creating her first artist run studio/gallery in the heart of Soho, Studio2. Along with her studio gallery space, she exhibited, tutored and created an artist community group through weekly HKVAC life drawing.

Later she independently founded H Studio Gallery, in the New Territories of Hong Kong, to exhibit both local and international a platform. Fostering a diverse art/artist community space.

Boyd’s vibrantly coloured works range from quality acrylic paint on canvas to layered mixed media creations on paper and also installation pieces. Her works have been exhibited internationally and feature in in both private and commercial art collections around the globe including Asia, Australasia, Europe, Middle East and North America.

Recent Years have seen the artist participating in Artist Residencies in Cambodia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Now back in Australia Boyd is focusing on her art practise and has made finalist in the 2020 BelleArtStart AGNSW, CAC Fisher’s Ghost Art Prize and the Burwood Council Art competition. Her finalist work later selected for Burwood Council’s Public Art, part of over 100 flags located around the Burwood community in early 2021.

Currently she is working on art for upcoming group exhibitions, commissions and has made finalist in the 2022 Brunswick small works prize, Project Contemporary Still Life Prize, Burwood Art Prize, Wollongong WAG Art prize, CAC Friends Annual and Focus exhibition, Burwood Public Art Flags and is excited to be participating artist in the INCOGNITO art show raising funding for _studio_a_
